Little Parisian Arc de Triomphe in South Moravia
About the place
The romantic structure in the form of a Roman triumphal arch was built by the Napoleonic Wars' commander John I on the highest point of the Boří Forest. A large hall occupying the entire floor of the monument served as a place for hunting breakfasts for the participants of the hunts. The decoration consists of reliefs of dramatic scenes of game hunting. Visitors to the region often compare it to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. It certainly bears its resemblance, but it is much smaller and differently arranged. A short distance from the monument is the main road between Breclav and Valtice, where it is possible to leave the car in the parking lot and walk.
