Important church building
About the place
The first written mention of the parish church dates back to 1227. The Lichtenštějns had intentions to build a majestic church for many years. Later on, an Italian court builder, inspired by Rome, took up the idea. Four bells are hung in the north tower of the church: the Virgin Mary bell weighs 996 kg, the reconciliation bell Anna is a gift from former Austrian residents and the Wenceslas bell was donated by the citizens of Valtice. The last painting of the church was done a few years before the First World War.
