Chapel of St. Roch
Breclav • Religious sights
The chapel as a reminder of the earlier epidemic
About the place
The neo-Gothic chapel dates back to the end of the 19th century and was built as a reminder of the cholera epidemic. It was dedicated to St. Roch, the protector against the plague. The chapel stands next to the town park opposite the gymnasium building. During the Christmas market, the chapel is used for an exhibition of nativity scenes. The roof is in the shape of a four-sided tent and a cross is placed on top. Inside the chapel, a neo-Gothic wooden altar is a highlight.
